The grand opening of the Children's Grove at Cushing Memorial Park will be held rain or shine Wednesday, July 8, from noon to 2 p.m. The Children's Grove blends formal and natural play elements together for children ages 5-12. <a href="https://patch.com/massachusetts/framingham/framingham-awarded-400000-grant-for-cushing-park-improvements-childrens-grove-play-area">Framingham Parks and Recreation Department was awarded a $400,000 reimbursable grant from the Massachusetts' Parkland Acquisitions and Renovations for Communities</a> program for design and construction costs associated with Phase 5 of improvements to Cushing Memorial Park, as approved by Framingham's Annual Town Meeting in Spring 2013. Phase 5 improvements included Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant pathways and park furnishings like benches, as well as the children's grove play area.The total phase 5 project was budgeted at $650,000. There will be music and refreshments following the grand opening ceremony.
