LETTER: 'John Stefanini Inspired My Husband And Me To Become Engaged Citizens, To Volunteer, To Participate'

"I urge my fellow Framingham residents to be informed and understand the issues."

My husband and I decided to make Framingham our home a little over a year ago today. John Stefanini, my husband’s uncle, offered to let us move into his house while we figured out what schools to send our kids and where to buy a house. As soon as we arrived, John told us to register to vote and open a local bank account. He explained that it was important to invest in a local bank to support our local economy. He encouraged me to begin teaching the kids about our right to vote. He suggested I take the kids with me to the polls during the presidential election to show them how important it is to vote.

Jamie and I are invested in our city and in our neighborhood. John Stefanini has inspired my husband and me to become engaged citizens, to volunteer, to participate, and to teach our children about civic responsibility. I urge my fellow Framingham residents to be informed and understand the issues. We cannot afford to be distracted or unengaged. Voting is more than a right; It is our civic responsibility. John has consistently accepted this responsibility.
