5 Things: Traffic Restrictions, Laptop Discussions

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. One to One Initiative: This week we’ve featured two Letters to the Editor about the 1:1 Initiative. Tonight the school committee will be announcing the results of the sign-up slip sent to the parents of eight graders. What do you think about requiring students to own personal laptops or lease them through the school? Share you opinion in the comments.

2. Weekend Traffic Changes: Because of the 9th Annual Sharon Timlin 5K, traffic will be heavier than usual. There will be a section of Hayden Rowe Street (Route 85) from Grove Street to Chestnut Street that will be closed for approximately 30 minutes beginning at approximately 8:25 a.m. Police will be available to redirect traffic through these areas. Parking will be very limited so you should allow extra time and park on the side of the streets if possible or use the secured bike valet.

3. Eagle Scout Ceremony: On Sunday three Eagle Scouts from Troop 4 are being recognized for achieving the highest rank in scouting. Their ceremony is being held rom 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hopkinton YMCA.
