Three Arrested With Ties to Hopkinton Armed Robbery

On Nov. 23, a Hopkinton family from Lincoln Street awoke early in the morning by . The two people living in the house were tied up while the armed men went through the house stealing several items.

That family, and others from the area may be able to breathe a sigh of relief soon though, because three men have been arrested and are tied to the break-ins.

Corey Ridolfi, 25, from Cumberland Rhode Island

Jared Lemay, 19, from North Smithfield Rhode Island, and 

Carlos Ortiz, 20, from Woonsocket Rhode Island 

The other break in's occurred in Franklin and Cumberland Rhode Island, but according to a press release from Hopkinton Police Detective Tim Brennan they were random.

"Although the victims were chosen randomly the suspects had connections (family, friends or employment) to the neighborhoods where the crimes were committed."

The list of break-ins includes: 

On November 9^th, 2011 an Eisenhower Street Cumberland Rhode Island residence was broken into and three firearms were stolen as well as other valuables.

On November 10^th, 2011 a Mount Street Franklin, MA resident awoke to find armed intruders in her home and bedroom.  She was tied up and items were stolen from her home. 

On November 16^th, 2011 two Lyons Road Franklin, MA residences were broken into.  Both homes had many items stolen and significant property damage done to the residences.

On November 23^rd, 2011 a Lincoln Street Hopkinton, MA resident awoke to find armed intruders in his home standing over him.  His mother was also home and both were tied up and items stolen from their home.  The residents were physically unharmed during the incident.

The arrests came after an officer from the Cumberland Rhode Island Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle and stopped it.

"[The officers] subsequently arrested the operator for motor vehicle violations.  During the inventory search of the vehicle they located firearms and clothing. The firearms were similar to those described and used in the Franklin MA home invasion. The clothing was similar to that worn by potential suspects in the Franklin MA home invasion and had been circulated and identified through ATM photos," the release said.

The investigation included work from multiple police agencies including Hopkinton PD, Franklin PD, Cumberland PD, the FBI, the Middlesex and Norfolk Counties DA's Offices, Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit. The release said that "many suspects were identified and some have been indicted and charged in various jurisdictions where the crimes were committed."
