MALDEN, MA — Two more Malden residents have died of the coronavirus, bringing the death toll to four, health officials said. The City Clerk confirms a fatal case of the coronavirus after receiving a death certificate listing the virus as the cause of death.

As of Thursday, April 16, there are 441 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Malden, the Health Department said. There is a discrepancy between local and state numbers, as the April 15 breakdown from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported 379 cases in Malden.

Health officials said accurate numbers are difficult to ascertain due to the statewide system of collecting data and the amount of information coming in as more testing is made available. Numbers are expected to increase as more testing takes place.
