Coronavirus MA: Deaths Tied To Senior, Veterans Homes Outbreaks
Four people died of the coronavirus at Revere's Jack Satter House and five more died at Holyoke Soldiers' Home.
REVERE, MA — Several deaths have been linked to coronavirus outbreaks at a senior living facility in Revere and veterans home in Holyoke.
Five residents of Revere's Jack Satter House died, and at least four of the deaths are related to the coronavirus, the company that runs the home said Monday. Hebrew SeniorLife announced six new confirmed cases of the coronavirus among the residents of the home, bringing the total to 13. Eight residents are hospitalized.
"This insidious virus poses an increasingly dangerous threat to our oldest generation, not just in Greater Boston but around the world," Lou Woolf, president and CEO of Hebrew SeniorLife, said in a statement. "We all must be absolutely vigilant in our approach to physical distancing and infection control, and ever-consistent in abiding by Centers for Disease Control and Mass. Department of Health guidance. We extend our deepest sympathy to those who have lost loved ones to this virus, and our prayers go out to those who have been diagnosed, and to their families as well."

Meanwhile, the superintendent of the Holyoke Soldiers' Home is on paid administrative leave following several deaths at the facility, according to MassLive. Five veterans who died tested positive for the virus and officials are awaiting test results on five more, the site reported. One cause of death is unknown. Five staff members tested positive for the virus and test results are pending on 25 additional residents.
