Investigation Ongoing After Burglary At Malden Restaurant: Police
Police said anyone with information on a break-in last week at El Potro Mexican Bar & Grill should reach out to the Malden Police Department

MALDEN, MA — Malden Police are investigating after a reported burglary at El Potro Mexican Bar & Grill last week, police confirmed on Friday.
Police said no suspects had been identified as of Friday, with investigators inviting anyone with information on the situation to reach out.
The theft in question took place overnight between Nov. 11 and Nov. 12, according to a police statement. Police said someone stole property, “some of which was money.” Police did not go into further detail on what was stolen, though, citing their ongoing investigation.

WBZ Channel 4 reported on this incident on Thursday of this week. The station spoke with El Potro Business Manager Joe Carreiro, who said an individual managed to get into a restaurant office area and wheel a safe out of the building.
While not confirming specific information on stolen property, police on Friday said a preliminary investigation and a review of surveillance footage found signs someone indeed broke into the restaurant wearing all-black clothing in addition to a mask and gloves.

Police said they saw evidence of the individual both approaching and leaving El Potro, eventually fleeing the area in the direction of West Street in Malden.
El Potro is a restaurant serving Mexican food with separate locations in Chelsea, Lowell and Somerville. The Malden El Potro site is located on Highland Avenue near Devir Park and the Fellsway. El Potro Malden opened in 2015.
