MALDEN, MA – Malden resident Lissette Alvarado is running for mayor of malden, she announced on Monday.

Alvarado’s campaign prioritizes rebuilding relationships between city hall and Malden’s educators, essential, and unionized workers, according to a news release.

In addition, she will invest in small, diverse businesses, work towards more affordable housing options in the city, create a Parks Commission to oversee maintenance of Malden’s park system, prioritize safety by building a new fire station headquarters, and increase language access and transparency initiatives.

Alvarado and her husband, Chris, moved to Malden twelve years ago. Their four children attend Malden Public Schools.

Alvarado has spent her entire professional life working in civil service, including for Barack Obama in both the U.S. Capitol and at the White House.

“This is my home. Malden has blessed us with wonderful friends and a vibrant place to raise our family,” Alvarado said in a news release. “I am excited to extend my advocacy work into this campaign for Mayor.”
