Malden Athletic Director Nominated For Award

Malden Catholic High School AD has built a high quality athletic program

Malden Catholic High School Athletic Director Patrick Driscoll has been nominated for the Massachusetts Athletic Director of the Year award.

It comes as Driscoll, who also teachers theology and coaches baseball, was recently named 2015-2016 MIAA District H Athletic Director of the Year.

“We congratulate Mr. Driscoll on the honor of this recognition and thank him for his ongoing service to the student-athletes of Malden Catholic,” said Malden Catholic Principal Brother Thomas Puccio in a statement from the school.

Under Driscoll’s watch, Malden Catholic has won won four straight Division 1A state titles in hockey. The entire athletics program has also been completely revamped. The gym has been redone, and the locker rooms are currently being reconstructed to include modern amenities. Driscoll has also brought several tennis courts and a multi-purpose field onto the school’s campus.

Malden Catholic originally hired him as a theology teacher in 2000. When he was hired, Driscoll coached the baseball team before being named the Assistant Athletic Director in 2005. He became the Athletic Director after his predecessor Chris Serino, under whom Driscoll served as an assistant hockey coach, fell ill in 2012.
