Malden Declares Snow Emergency, Parking Ban Ahead Of Friday Storm
The snow emergency will take effect Thursday night. Residents will have two hours to move their cars before enforcement begins.

MALDEN, MA — The city will issue a snow emergency and parking ban Thursday night ahead of a late February storm that's expected to dump up to 12 inches on the Malden area.
The snow emergency will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, with parking enforcement starting at 9 p.m.
Residents are asked to park in driveways wherever possible. For those without access to off-street parking, the following locations will be available to park for free:

- Beebe
- Ferryway
- Early Learning Center
- Forestdale
- Salemwood
- Linden
- Malden High School parking located along the bike path behind the skating rink. Note: this does not include parking at the skating rink lot.
- Temple Ezrath Israel lot, 245 Bryant St.
Lots will be available starting at 7 p.m., and vehicles must vacate two hours after the end of the snow emergency.
Trash pickup for Thursday will be done on Saturday, and Friday's route will be collected on Monday. The Malden Public Library, Senior Center and Teen Center will be closed Friday.

A winter storm warning was issued everywhere but the South Shore and Cape Cod, which are under a winter storm watch, from 12 a.m. Friday to 12 a.m. Saturday. The National Weather Service says snow will start falling before dawn on Friday, gathering 1-2 inches per hour during the morning commute.
The latest forecasts from Thursday morning call for 8-12 inches of snow north of the Mass Pike, while precipitation will change to the wintry mix south of the highway.
