Malden Disabled Veterans Poppy Drive Begins
The proceeds benefit the Soldier's Home in Chelsea.

The Annual Malden Disabled American Veterans Poppy Drive has started. It runs from Nov. 3-Nov. 11. All the proceeds benefit the Soldier’s Home in Chelsea.
Mayor Gary Christenson made the first donation.
The Poppy Drive was first conducted in 1922 by The Veterans of Foreign Wars. Hundreds of poppies were assembled by disabled veterans who were paid for their work so that they earned some form of financial assistance. The poppy was soon adopted as the official memorial flower of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
