Malden To Open Cooling Centers As Temperatures Soar

Temperatures are forecast to push close to 100 degrees on Thursday. High temperatures may linger through the weekend.

MALDEN, MA – Malden opened a series of cooling centers this week as temperatures are forecast to again soar across the region, the city announced on Tuesday.

The first floor of Malden City Hall will remain open as one such center between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. City Hall is located at 200 Pleasant Street.

The Church of Nazarene previously opened as a cooling center on Tuesday and will remain open through Friday, also from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The church is located a 529 Eastern Ave. Those utilizing the cooling center should enter through the church’s rear entrance.

Both buildings are air-conditioned with water available. The city on Tuesday invited anyone who feels as though they do not have sufficient cooling in their home to come to a cooling center.

Temperatures in Malden could top out close to 100 degrees on Thursday, with high temperatures lingering above 90 degrees through the weekend, according to Accuweather.
