Malden previously opened cooling centers at City Hall and the Church of Nazarene to help residents stay safe.

The head lingered through Monday, with high temperatures now forecast to push above 95 degrees in Malden once again on Tuesday. The heatwave may then finally break on Wednesday, when temperatures could cap at 77 degrees, according to Accuweather.

A heat advisory from the National Weather Service will remain in effect until Tuesday night.

With many eyeing cooler weather, Monday’s high temperatures came hours after a line of intense thunderstorms swept through communities north of Boston on Sunday night.

The storms knocked out power to thousands, with crews working to restore power overnight.

Power was on across most of Malden as of Monday morning, though patch of energy customers between the Fellsway and the Oak Grove station remained in the dark as of 10 a.m., according to National Grid’s outage map and a Malden city alert.

Crews restored power later in the day on Monday.
