Malden Issues Snow Emergency Ahead Of Blizzard
A potentially record-setting blizzard is on its way to Massachusetts this weekend.
MALDEN, MA — The city of Malden has declared a snow emergency, starting at 3 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 28.
The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning from coastal Massachusetts and the Cape to the I-495/I-95 corridor. The latest forecasts call for 18-24 inches of snow to fall overnight Friday until Sunday morning.
A statement from the city indicates it is experiencing the same staffing challenges as other communities across the state.

"We ask that you please bear with us as things will be moving slower than normal," the statement reads in part.
Parking enforcement will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday. Residents are asked to park in driveways wherever possible, but may also move their cars to the following locations:

- Beebe School
- Ferryway School
- Early Learning Center
- Forestdale School
- Salemwood School
- Linden School
- Malden High School, along the bike path behind the skating rink (Note: does not include the skating rink lot)
- Temple Ezrath Israel lot, 245 Bryant St.
Vehicles must be removed from these lots within two hours of the end of a snow emergency.
Residents may also use the CBD and Jackson Street Parking Garages free of charge, starting Thursday at 9 p.m. Vehicles must be moved from the garages by 7 a.m. Monday morning.
