Malden Woman ID'd As Pedestrian Fatally Struck By SUV
Authorities said the 63-year-old victim was standing on the sidewalk when she was hit by a vehicle that had collided with another SUV.
MALDEN, MA — The Middlesex District Attorney's Office and Malden Police Department on Wednesday identified Malden's Mary McTaggart, 63, as the pedestrian fatally struck by a vehicle last week in Malden.
The crash occurred last Thursday on the corner of Main Street and Mountain Avenue.
According to a preliminary investigation, the victim was standing on the sidewalk when she was struck by a BMW SUV that had collided with a law enforcement vehicle.

The BMW SUV, authorities said, had been traveling south on Main Street when it hit a Dodge SUV — the law enforcement vehicle — that was stopped at a traffic light. The BMW left the roadway, struck two telephone poles and then hit McTaggart.
The victim was transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Authorities said the driver of the BMW SUV remained on the scene after the fatal collision and that no charges have been filed yet in connection with the incident.
The investigation into the incident remains active and is being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, Malden PD and the Massachusetts State Police Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
