A New Hampshire restaurant may be interested in purchasing the location of the former Hilltop Steakhouse Steakhouse.

SAUGUS, MA - A New Hampshire restaurant may be interested in purchasing the location of the former Hilltop Steakhouse Steakhouse - a longtime landmark on Route 1 in Saugus.

The legendary steakhouse closed in 2013.

For more than half a century the Hilltop drew customers from far and wide and was known for its famous Hilltop cows, the 68-foot tall neon, lightup, cactus sign seen along the roadway, and of course the steak.

The Hilltop Steakhouse property was sold in Nov. 2014, according to WickedLocal.com.

Raymond, N.H.-based Tuckaway Tavern & Butchery recently previewed their news on social media:


The Butchery opened in March 2012 as a meat market specialty shop, according to their website, but quickly expanded to the Tavern. The restaurant opened a few months after the Butchery.
