5 Things: Free Burritos Today, Garage Meeting Canceled

Here's Five Things. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012.

Good morning, here are five things to know today:

1. Garage Meeting Canceled: The city council was planning on meeting with Mayor Michael McGlynn at 5:45 p.m. tonight in room 207 at City Hall to discuss the proposed new parking garage on Governors Avenue, but the meeting has been canceled. Several city councilors have spoken out against the garage, but McGlynn has said businesses in Medford Square need it. Council President Robert Maiocco canceled the meeting Monday afternoon. A future date for the meeting will be posted, according to city clerk Ed Finn.

Boloco on Boston Avenue will be giving away free burritos today to celebrate the Boston-based Mexican food chain's 15th birthday. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

4. Sunny and Breezy: Clear skies are expected today with highs in the mid-40s, according to the National Weather Service. Wind gusts could reach 20 miles per hour.

From State Senator Patricia Jehlen's office: Governor Patrick signed a bill that will allow certain individuals convicted of crimes to access DNA evidence to help overturn their convictions.  The law puts Massachusetts in line with 48 other states in providing a way to use DNA testing to exonerate wrongfully-convicted people.
