: With the council set to begin its review of the budget this week, Breanna Lungo-Koehn wants the city's finance department to calculate a Medford municipal budget's bottom line that would result in no tax increase in 2012. "I think now is the time we have to ask the question, because if we try to ask about it in December and they say you have to do that in June when you’re going over the budget," she said during a council meeting Tuesday night.

John Salvucci's attempt to be freed while awaiting trial on a charge of conspiracy to commit robbery was rejected by a federal judge last week. Salvucci, 65, of Medford, , according to prosecutors. The plan was thwarted when a man Salvucci tried to recruit to help with the job tipped off the FBI and agreed to have phone conversations with Salvucci recorded, according to court documents filed by federal prosecutors.
4. Softball Playoffs Today: The Medford High School softball team squeaked into the state tournament as the bottom seed and they have a tough task ahead today. They play 11-seed Chelmsford in the open round on the road this afternoon.
