: The Massachusetts House of Representatives has approved a non-traditional planning and construction method for the Green Line extension, according to Denise Provost, a state representative from Somerville who sits on the Joint Committee on Transportation. The Construction Manager/General Contractor model has been used for buildings in Massachusetts, "but not for transportation projects," Provost said Friday.
: WBUR created a map showing how average teacher salaries compare across Massachusetts, and Melrose Public Schools' average K-12 teacher salary is lower than all of the city's neighbors in the region. On the map, the darker the city or town, the higher the average salary. The map can be viewed for elementary teacher salaries (red), middle school salaries (green) and high school salaries (blue).

: The Medford Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with Whole Foods Market in Medford for the city's first annual Health and Fitness Expo. The event will feature interactive and complimentary health screenings as well as fitness classes and sports clinics throughout the day. Events are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., including an appearance by New England Patriots mascot Pat Patriot.
