Tell us a little about yourself and your background.

At the age of 27, I quit my job as a research scientist to become a full-time musician and pursue my passion for music. I have recorded three independent albums and performed throughout the New England area, sometimes to crowds of 10,000+ people. I started teaching in 2010 and have helped many students learn to sing and play the guitar. Because I was getting so many inquiries about lessons and did not have the time myself to help everyone, I decided to open a Music School. I have really enjoyed seeing the students develop over time and it's always very rewarding as a teacher to help others.

In a nutshell, describe your business.

The business is a fully operational music school with it's own performance space. We offer private drum, bass, guitar, piano, voice and violin lessons. Our students range from 5 years old to 74 years old. We offer workshops (songwriting, performance, music theory, etc.) and performance opportunities throughout the year to our students. We sometimes even hold group events for students to get know each other, hang out, and play music together.

What is your favorite part about what you do?

There is nothing more rewarding than helping someone do something they have wanted to do for years or to help a child discover their love of music. I have worked with clients who say that their lessons are the only "me time" that they get during the week. It's great to see a student with absolutely no "talent for music" or desire to perform come in one day and say, "You are never going to believe what did this weekend. I did my first open mic." Most times, students do not know many of the benefits they get from learning an instrument, but it really is a transforming experience and I am glad to be a part of that.

What's the most important thing you'd like your customers to know about your business?

Myself and all the teachers here truly love teaching music to others. Our job is to find a way to make music enjoyable for you. We know everyone has different learning styles and we try to adjust lessons so you can progress at your best. We like to make sure that the customer is comfortable, even at their first lesson. That is why our space has a very welcoming feel as soon as you walk into our waiting room. This is not only a business, but it is an overall experience for both students and parents alike. We want you to have a personalized relationship with our staff and let us know how we can make your overall experience better. But you do not have to take my word for it, visit our website at www.lbmusicschool.com to read and watch the testimonials from our students.
