Fire Report: Fatal Fire at Mystic Place Not Suspicious

Investigators released a brief summary report Wednesday.

A fire last month that resulted in the death of an elderly man was an accident and not suspicious, according to a brief report released by investigators.

A 72-year-old man was rescued by firefighters from his smoke-filled first-floor apartment at 3610 Mystic Valley Parkway about 9 a.m. on May 13, but died at Massachusetts General Hospital the next day.

The man went into cardiac arrest after being rescued from the apartment, according to the summary report, a three paragraph memo provided by Medford Police and Fire Departments Wednesday.
