Five Guys Burgers Eyes June Opening in Medford

Renowned burger chain is getting ready to move into Station Landing.

What some tout as the best burger in America will be coming to Medford soon.

Five Guys Burgers is aiming to open its doors at 65 Station Landing sometime in June, franchisee Marc Magerman said Tuesday.

Magerman appeared before the Medford City Council Tuesday night seeking a victualler license, which was unanimously approved by the council. The restaurant was nearing the end of the licensing phase; Magerman said he hoped to secure a certificate of occupancy this week.

Best known for their burgers, hot dogs and fries, the fast food chain was recently picked as having the "best burger" by ZAGAT in 2010.

The chain has undertaken a major push to expand in recent years -- more than a dozen Five Guys have opened in Massachusetts since 2009. The Station Landing location will be the first within walking distance of an MBTA subway stop.
