Address Mix-up Results In Large Medford Oil Spill

The home was not equipped to receive oil, fire officials said.

MEDFORD, MA — Nearly 400 gallons of oil were pumped into the basement of a home due to an address mistake, according to the Medford Fire Department.

The police and fire departments responded to the scene at 48 Linwood St. early Monday afternoon and found the home's basement coated in oil.

The incident was reportedly caused by a mistake in which the oil was meant to be delivered to 48 Linwood St. in Malden. However, it was brought to the same address in Medford. The Medford property did not have an oil tank or any other oil equipment.
