Mayor Requests New City Fees, Amendments
Eight amendments were requested of the city council by Mayor Michael McGlynn.

Mayor Michael McGlynn has submitted eight proposed amendments to city ordinances, which will be considered by the City Council Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
The amendments include many changes to existing fees and additions of new city fees.

First Proposed Amendment
That Chapter 6. Animals; Article II. Dogs, subsection (b) (5) which presently states:

(4) Female dog spayed $ 6.00
(5) Seeing Eye Dog No Fee
be amended to state:
(4) Female dog spayed $ 10.00
(5) Service Animal No Fee
Second Proposed Amendment
That Chapter 6. Article II. Building Standards, subsection (a) be amended by the addition of the following language:
(24) New cell antennas $500.00 each
Replace existing antennas $300.00 each
(25) Mechanical Fees
Minimum Application Fee $ 50.00
Gas/Oil Separators $200.00
Sprinklers $ 2.00 per sprinkler head
Sprinkler Standpipes $100.00 each
Methane Gas Pumps $200.00 each
External Grease Traps $200.00 each
Restaurant Hoods $200.00 each
Air Conditioning Systems $ 50.00 per unit
Furnaces $ 50.00 each
Baseboard Heating Systems $ 50.00 per system
Heat Pumps $ 50.00 each
Oil Tanks $ 50.00 each
Boilers $ 50.00 each
Refrigerator coils $ 50.00 each
Hydronic Heat Piping $ 50.00
Mechanical Dryer Venting $200.00 per system
French Drainage System $200.00 per system
(26) Sheet Metal Fees
First 200 Linear or square feet of sheet metal work $ 25.00
Each additional 200 linear or square feet $ 25.00
Application fee $ 20.00
Third Proposed Amendment
That Chapter 6. Article III. Electrical Code, New Apartment Houses be amended by the addition of the following:
(22) Residential Illegal Demolition $100.00 minimum
(23) Solar Panels
Residential $ 10.00 each panel
Minimum Fee $ 40.00
Commercial $20.00 each panel
Minimum Fee $100.00
(24) New cell antennas $200.00 each
Replace existing antennas $150.00 each
Fourth Proposed Amendment
That Chapter 6. Article III. Plumbing Permit Fee Schedule which presently states:
(2) New work-Commercial
a. First five fixtures $ 75.00
b. Each additional fixture or appurtenance $ 20.00
be amended to state:
(2) New work-Commercial
a. First five fixtures $150.00
b. Each additional fixture or appurtenance $ 25.00
Fifth Proposed Amendment
That Chapter 6. Article III. Plumbing Permit Fee Schedule which presently states:
(3) b. Commercial
1. First Five Fixtures $ 75.00
2. Each additional fixture or apputenance $ 15.00
be amended to state:
(3) b. Commercial
1. First Five Fixtures $ 100.00
2. Each additional fixture or apputenance $ 20.00
Sixth Proposed Amendment
That Chapter 42. Fire Prevention and Protection Code, section (a) Fire permit
fees, subsection (11), which presently states:
Inspection and report of inns (innkeeper):
a. Under 101 rooms.......... $200.00
b. Over 101 rooms, per room.. $ 5.00
be amended to:
Inspection and report of inns (innkeeper): $200.00
Seventh Proposed Amendment
That Chapter 42. Fire Prevention and Protection Code, section (a) Fire permit
fees, subsection (12), which presently states:
Inspection and certificate of compliance in conjunction
with M.G.L.A. c. 148, § 26F
(resale of residential property).......... $50.00 per unit up to 5 units. 6 or more
units $100.00 plus $25.00 per additional unit.
be amended to state:
Inspection and certificate of compliance in conjunction with M.G.L.A. c. 148, § 26F
(resale of residential property)
a. Per Unit up to 3 $ 50.00
b. 4, 5 or 6 units $150.00
c. 7 units or more $500.00
Eighth Proposed Amendment
That Chapter 74. Streets, Sidewalks and Other Public Places, Article VI Newsracks, which presently states:
(d) One time certificate compliance fee $100.00
(e) Fee for each newsrack, per year $ 10.00
be amended to state:
(d) Annual certificate of compliance fee $100.00
(e) Annual fee for each newsrack $ 25.00
