Medford 2021 Election Starts Taking Shape
See who has pulled papers for local office this year.
MEDFORD, MA — Medford's municipal election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 2. If necessary, a preliminary election is scheduled for Sept. 14.
Candidates have until Aug. 10 to file certified papers with the City Clerk's office. Next Thursday, Aug. 12, is the last day for candidates to withdraw from the race.

- August 12th, 5:00pm: Last day and hour to file objections or withdraw from nomination.
- August 13th, 9:30am: Ballot Position Drawing for Preliminary Election (if necessary, in Medford City Hall, Room 102).
- August 25th, 8:00pm: Close of Voter Registration for Preliminary Election
- September 7th, 4:30pm: Pre-Preliminary Campaign Finance Report due.
- September 8th, 5:00pm: Last day and hour to request absentee ballot by mail for the Preliminary Election.
- September 13th, noon: Last day and time to file application in person in the Office of the City Clerk for absentee ballots for the Preliminary Election.
- September 14th: Preliminary Election, 7:00am to 8:00pm.
- September 20th, 5:00pm: Last day and hour to withdraw from nomination or petition for a recount of votes from Preliminary Election and for filing written acceptance by a write-in or sticker candidate who won a write-in campaign in the Preliminary Election.
- October 13th, 8:00pm: Close of Voter Registration for Municipal Election.
- October 25th, 4:30pm: Pre-Election Campaign Finance Report due.
- October 27th, 5:00pm: Last day and hour to request absentee ballot by mail for the Municipal Election.
- November 1st, noon: Last day and hour to file application in person in the Office of the City Clerk for absentee ballots for the Municipal Election.
- November 2nd: Municipal Election, 7:00am to 8:00pm
- November 12th, 5:00pm: Last day and hour to petition for recount of votes from the Municipal Election.
- January 20, 2022, 4:30pm: Final Campaign Finance Report due for 2021.
