Medford Asking Community's Help In Keeping City Beautiful

The city has launched a program that incentivizes businesses to maintain public spaces.

MEDFORD, MA — The city announced the launch of its new “Adopt-a-Site” program this week.

Through the program, businesses or individuals can take over an available public space and “beautify” it in exchange for a sign being installed at the location, acknowledging and advertising the adopter.

By adopting a site, people commit to maintaining it through actions such as removing weeds, planting flowers, and preventing the area from becoming dirty overall.

“We have numerous small public sites and green spaces that are in need of beautification and a little extra care,” Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn said. “This is a great opportunity for residents or groups to help encourage a sense of pride in our community and get some public recognition for their work.”
Interested community members can apply online and preview the more than 40 locations currently available for adoption.
