Medford Detective Who Threatened to Kill Driver Resigns

Stephen Lebert, a Medford Police detective who threatened to kill a driver during a traffic stop back in July, has resigned from his position, according to WHDH.com.
Lebert was caught on dashcam video threatening to “blow a hole” through the driver’s head. He had been on paid leave since the incident took place.
In September, the department cited the veteran officer for conduct unbecoming of an officer, conduct injurious to the public peace and welfare, breaking the department’s pursuit policy and for violating its use of force policy.

A disciplinary hearing, which was scheduled for Oct. 15 to determine whether Lebert should be terminated or suspended, will no longer be held.
In his latest incident, Lebert was off-duty when he stopped a driver going the wrong way through a rotary. Lebert could be heard on video threatening to seize the camera, “put a hole right through your f---ing head,” and saying “You’re lucky I’m a f---ing cop. Cause I’d be beating the f---ing piss outta you right now.”

Lebert was previously suspended twice in 1986 and once in 1992.
