Medford Elementary School Parent Tests Positive For Coronavirus
Health officials ask that all students and staff at the Brooks Elementary School self-isolate until March 27.
MEDFORD, MA — The parent of a first-grade student at the Brooks Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19, the illness associated with the coronavirus. The parent received a positive diagnosis March 21 and self-reported to school officials. The student, who was not tested, was at school on March 11 and 12 with a cough but no fever.
Health officials said the parent reported only mild symptoms, and both the parent and child have self-isolated since March 13. Officials ask that all students and staff at the Brooks School self-isolate until March 27, which is 14 days from the last day the child was in school.
Brooks students are also advised to avoid contact with vulnerable members of the population – the elderly, people with underlying health conditions or those with compromised immune systems.
