Medford Encouraging Residents To Use Cooling Centers Amid Heat Wave

Cooling Centers are available at the Medford Police Department, Public Library, and Council on Aging.

MEDFORD, MA — The City of Medford will be making cooling centers available during the forecasted heat wave from Wednesday, July 26 through Friday, July 28, Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn announced.

Cooling centers will be located at the following locations:

  • Medford Police Department Community Room (100 Main St.), available 24 hours a day
  • Medford Senior Center (101 Riverside Ave.), from 8:30am-6pm
  • Medford Public Library (111 High St.), from 9am-9pm on July 26 and 27, and 9am-6pm on July 28

In addition to visiting cooling centers, residents are encouraged to follow other extreme hot weather safety tips, such as wearing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing, drinking plenty of water, staying indoors as much as possible, and wearing sunscreen with a high SPF.
