Medford Firefighters Go Shopping For Nursing Home Residents
Firefighters were called to a long-term care facility "hard-hit" by the coronavirus. Before they left, they asked for a grocery list.

MEDFORD, MA — Firefighters went grocery shopping Friday for residents of the Glen Ridge Nursing Home, a long-term care facility in Medford that has been "hard-hit" by the coronavirus, the fire department said. Firefighters were called to the home Friday morning for a coronavirus-related emergency.
Before leaving, they asked staff at the home what supplies they needed. The list included popsicles, Gatorade and lollipops, which can be used to feed sick residents who have trouble chewing and swallowing solid foods, and other products like individually wrapped snacks and cleaning supplies.
Fire Captain Brennan and firefighters Latson and Krasco went shopping and delivered boxes of Gatorade powder, popsicles, apple sauce, snacks lollipops and hard candies to the facility.
