Medford Interim Fire Chief Earns Permanent Title

The Mayor appointed Todd Evans after his strong examination performance.

MEDFORD, MA — Todd Evans was officially named Medford's newest Fire Chief Monday after holding the title on an interim basis for nearly a year.

According to the city, Evans scored the highest among all candidates in the Fire Chief assessment center examination process. Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn expressed her confidence in Evans based on his Interim Chief performance, and his satisfactory test scores just reinforced her confidence in his potential.

“The Fire Department is in good hands with him at the helm and I know he’s committed to ensuring that each member continues to serve the community with the highest level of accountability, integrity, and professionalism,” Lungo-Koehn said.

Evans has been a member of the department since 2001. He was promoted to Deputy Chief after 20 years of service in 2021.

Evans expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve in his new role and will be publicly sworn in on Wednesday, March 12 at the Alden Memorial Chambers.

“Thank you to Mayor Lungo-Koehn, my colleagues in the administration and the fire department for their support and guidance as I went through the assessment center examination process,” Evans said.
