MEDFORD, MA — The city and School Committee announced the launch of a job placement program for “at risk” and low-income young people.

The YouthWorks program was made possible through the more than $40,000 in grant funding from MassHire. Participants in the program will meet weekly and be led by a job training coach. They will be placed in on-site job settings for real-time learning as well as learn how to build their resumes.
Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn named School Committee member Aaron Olapade as a driving force behind the program’s creation.

“I believe this grant and what comes with it will be the beginning of a new investment in our young workforce,” Olapade said. “It will not only strengthen our local community but also empower the generations to come with hands-on experience, soft-skill establishment, and professional development.”
