Medford Mystic River Celebration Canceled Due To Expected Rain, Winds

The event was scheduled for Saturday, with a rain date on Sunday. But organizers said the weekend forecast led to the cancellation.

MEDFORD, MA — The Coalition for Arts, Culture and a Healthy Economy (CACHE) in Medford announced Friday that this weekend's Mystic River Celebration has been canceled due to a forecast of rain and heavy winds on both Saturday and Sunday.

The arts festival had been scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday at the Condon Shell, located at 2501 Mystic Valley Pkwy. Sunday was listed as a rain date.

However, organizers of the event said the weekend forecast has led them to call off the arts festival for this year.

"We are sad to announce that, due to the forecast of heavy rain and high winds both Saturday and our rain date of Sunday, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Mystic River Celebration. Thank you for understanding," organizers wrote in a social media post.

According to AccuWeather, the Saturday afternoon forecast calls for temperatures of 61 degrees with periods of rain. The probability of rain is listed at 70 percent. Northeast winds are expected at 7 mph.

On Sunday afternoon, the forecast is for 62 degrees and occasional rain and drizzle. The probability of rain is listed at 55 percent. Northeast winds are expected to reach 14 mph.
