The former officer died at the age of 81 earlier this week.
MEDFORD, MA — The police department announced the death of a former Captain on Wednesday.
Captain Kenneth DiBlasi died on Monday, Dec. 8 at the age of 81. He spent nearly 35 years serving the city of Medford as a police officer from 1975 to 2009. It did not take long for DiBlasi to rise through the ranks at the department as he was promoted to Sergeant in 1980, followed by another promotion to Lieutenant four years later. He finally became a Captain in January 1986 where he would go on to lead the patrol division for 23 years.
“We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends and express our sincere gratitude for his many years of dedicated service to the City of Medford. May he rest in peace,” the department said in a statement.
