Medford Resident Finishes Boston Marathon, Raises $6K For Diabetes

Medford resident Elizabeth Maddock Dillon ran to raise money for the Joslin Diabetes Center.

MEDFORD, MA — Medford resident and Northeastern University Professor Elizabeth Maddock Dillon successfully completed the 2022 Boston Marathon Monday and raised nearly $6,000 for the Joslin Diabetes Center, the world's largest diabetes research center, diabetes clinic, and provider of diabetes education.

Dillon, 59, finished the race in 4:36:48. This was her first marathon ever after spending months training with he Tufts University marathon team.

The cause Dillon ran for also holds deep meaning to her, as she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 47 and became a patient of Joslin Diabetes Center.

“Diabetes affects so many people yet it is often not seen. I like the idea of not letting it hold me back,” Dillon said in a statement. “I wish other people around the world could get the level of care I am able to receive from Joslin.”
