The facility, under development for four years, offers patients access to advanced technology and surgical services in their own community, without a long commute to appointments. Ambulatory surgery centers such as this new location have become an attractive option for patients seeking affordable rates, personalized care, and the ability to stay out of the hospital and recover from procedures at home, according to Shields.

Shields Surgery Center will be open Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will have
more than 30 full-time employees within the first year of operation. For more information,
