Police: Man Used Medford Library Computer to View Child Porn
James Judge, 57, faces three charges.

A Medford man used a computer at the public library to view and print pornographic images of young boys, according to a police report.
James Judge, 57, of 106 Fellsway West was arrested Monday at Medford Public Library on charges of distributing material of a child in the nude, distributing material of a child in a sexual act and possession of child pornography, according to court records.
A group of young library patrons spotted Judge looking at naked pictures of young boys on a computer in the back of the library and told Assistant Librarian Barbara Kerr about 5 p.m Monday, according to a police report written by Officer Robin Doherty.

Kerr called police, who responded to the library and watched Judge from behind a tall bookshelf as he looked at pornographic images of young boys, the report said. Other library patrons sat at computers along the same table, the report said.
Doherty and Officer William Butts took Judge into a private room, where he told them he believed the children in the images were of legal age, the report said.

"He also stated that in hindsight, he shouldn't have done that and that he would promise not to come back to the library again," the report said.
The printer hooked up to the computer Judge used had in its tray multiple pages of printed images of young naked boys, Doherty wrote. Judge also had a bag with him and a manilla folder with paper in it, the report said.
Kerr told police that she had seen Judge in the library before, and she believed he had previously been viewing inappropriate material, the report said.
Judge was arraigned in Somerville District Court Tuesday, where his bail was set at $1,000, on condition that he have no contact with childen, stay away from schools, libraries, parks and day care centers, and that he submit to GPS monitoring.
He is slated to return to court for a probable cause hearing June 11.
