Thousands Without Power In Medford And Malden After Tree Takes Out Power Lines: Report

The tree limb collapse was believed to be caused by wind.

MEDFORD, MA — Thousands of residents across Medford and Malden are without electricity after a fallen tree limb took down multiple power lines on Thursday night, according to a report from WCVB NewsCenter 5.

The tree limb went down in the vicinity of Spring Street and Lawrence Street. It reportedly took out lines that were a high-voltage transmission, which is why it affected a large number of National Grid customers in two communities. The branch also damaged two cars on its way down to the ground.
A timetable for when power will be restored has not yet been established.
