UPDATE: High Street Re-Opened After Water Main Break
Street was shut for about 16 hours.

The water lines beneath High Street that broke Monday have been replaced and the road was reopened about 6 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Water services have also been restored to the area.
The roadway had a slight dip in it Tuesday morning, as the topping over the area where the line broke hasn't been laid down. It will be fully repaired later Tuesday, according to the Department of Public Works.

The water main break shut High Street to traffic about 2 p.m. Monday. The break occurred outside of Brookline Bank at 422 High St., shutting the road from Winthrop Street to the railroad tracks in West Medford Square. It left about 40 homes and 10 businesses without water service for about 15 hours.
When the problem was first reported a small amount of water was bubbling up from the street, DPW Commissioner Jack Buckley said Monday. But shortly after a crew arrived the water blew through the asphalt, sinking the street. The rear tires of a DPW pick-up truck parked outside Brookline Bank partially sunk into the road, Buckley said.
