: The school committee unanimously voted Monday night to roll back the kindergarten cutoff birth date from December 31 to August 31. The change will be effective starting in the 2012-2013 school year.
: Detailed designs haven't been made yet, but planners said they intend to create a large, plaza area with pedestrian access for nearing neighborhoods at the College Avenue green line station in Medford.

: Eighties pop music icon Rick Springfield will bring his act to Chevalier Theatre in the fall. Best known for his hit song "Jessie's Girl," Springfield will take the stage at Chevalier on Sept. 10.
: Pressure on the aging water infrastructure caused the water main break that shut High Street for 16 hours starting Monday afternoon, public works commissioner Jack Buckley said.
