Week in Review: Substation Incident Kills Lights in Medford; Man Charged with Child Assault

A contractor working at an Everett substation accidentally came in contact with a guy wire, leading to about 27,800 customers losing their power between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Friday morning.
: Jaime Barros, 49, of 123 Boylston St. Apartment 3 in Malden, was arrested at 7 p.m. Tuesday and charged with rape of a child with force and posing/exhibiting a child in a sexual act, according to Medford police booking records.
The fire department was called to 26 Rockwell Ave. at about 9 p.m. Monday, where a fire that started on an outdoor propane grill spread to the wood roof of a detached concrete block car garage. The fire was quickly extinguished without any injuries. It caused about $6,000 in damage.

: A man suffering from a serious stab wound was brought to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Sunday night, police said. Authorities believe the 20-year-old victim was stabbed somewhere in Medford. But the whereabouts of the stabbing and the circumstances are still under investigation
