5 Things You Need to Know Today: April 1

The state Department of Transportation is expected to begin improvements at Cedar Street and Route 16 today, so expect delays — even more delays than normal on Route 16.

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. Town officials advise residents to avoid the intersection if possible, and if you can't, expect more delays than usual.

2. More than 300 people attended, one of the largest in recent history.

3. Federal taxes are due two weeks from today, and Massachusetts taxes the following day. If you haven't already prepared your tax returns, it's time.

4. Dog licenses are now available for 2013 at the Milford Town Clerk's office. Dog owners need to provide a valid rabies certificate and also a spay/neutering certificate (if applicable). Licenses for dogs that are spayed or neutered are $6. The license fee for unaltered male and female dogs are $25. Fee is made payable in cash or money order only. If you are unable to come to the office you can mail your certificates and payment (no cash, no checks) to the Town Clerk’s Office and you will be mailed a license.
