5 Things You Need to Know Today: April 11

Spring Break begins at the end of the day Friday.

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. The Spring vacation for Milford schools begins at the end of the school day Friday. Everyone gets a one-week break.

2. April is National Donate Life Month, which encourages people to sign up to become organ or tissue donors. . The hospital reports it had 15 tissue donors last year.

3. A cookout fundraiser will be held at Hannaford Supermarket on Saturday, to benefit the Wing family. The $3 fee for a hotdog, chips, soda and cookie will go directly to the family, according to neighbors who announced the event. It will run from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

4. Christopher Vendetti has told the Milford Town Clerk he is conducting a write-in campaign for town constable, which would make for five constables, the amount suggested for Milford. Four other people will be on the ballot. The election is April 30.

5. State Sen. Richard Moore will hold coffee hours in Milford this month. He will be at Ray & Dick's Bakery from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. on April 19. The "Coffee with Constituents" program is a chance for him to discuss current issues and concerns with local residents.
