5 Things You Need to Know Today: April 3

The Milford Youth Center announces the winners of its March Madness Tournament.

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. More than 70 youths took part in a two-week basketball tournament at the Milford Youth Center. After 16 teams competed in the March Madness Competition, "Kentucky" ended up as the champions. Dwight Anderson, Kyle Hupe, Brittany Renaud and Angel Seda made up that team. The winner of the 3-point contest was Bekongcho Aminmentse. Winner of the dunk contest was Asong Aminmentse.

2. When it comes to their dogs, many Milford residents are on top of things. More than 100 people have already come into Milford Town Hall to renew or license their dogs for 2013, two days after the new tags became available. Some people even showed up early, on Friday.

4. to prospective members at Temple Beth Shalom, 55 Pine St. Visit the Hebrew school, meet the teachers and speak with members to get an understanding of what the Jewish Family Workshop offers the community.

5. Milford Catholic Elementary School will host a "Touch-a-Truck" event from 2 to 5 p.m. April 28. For the modest fee of $5 per child, the kids can touch and climb into the vehicles, and meet some of their hometown heroes.
