MILFORD, MA — Amazon will close five warehouse sites in Massachusetts, part of an effort to move employees into newer facilities, according to the company.

Delivery sites in Milford, Dedham, Everett, Randolph and Mansfield will close, a company spokesperson confirmed Monday. The closures come as Amazon has built and opened several other new delivery hubs across the state.

“We regularly look at how we can improve the experience for our employees, partners, drivers, and customers, and that includes upgrading our facilities," Amazon spokesperson Caitlin McLaughlin said. "These facilities provide upgraded amenities, including increased on-site parking, larger operational spaces, and better breakrooms with open market vending.”

McLaughlin said the employees will be offered jobs at nearby Amazon sites. The company did not say how many people will be impacted by the closures, and when the sites will actually close.

The Milford delivery center along Industrial Drive has been the focus of complaints from residents for years — and is the subject of a recent lawsuit after an Amazon driver hit a Milford man along Route 109 — but the company has recently opened a new delivery center across town along National Drive.

In Worcester, Amazon purchased and demolished the former Greendale Mall to build a new 121,000 square-foot last mile delivery station. The company has also recently built new warehouses in Northborough and East Taunton.
