Crow Knocks Out Power to 1,000 in Milford

A crow triggered a line failure on Congress Street that affected 1,000 customers of National Grid.

UPDATED: Power is reported to be back on to most of the area as of 8:30 p.m. A fuse blew at Rolling Green Apartments, however, so those buildings are still without.

A crow stepped on two electrical lines Sunday afternoon on Congress Street, electrocuting itself and triggering a line failure that has affected 1,000 customers of National Grid.

According to the outage map on the National Grid website, the outage was reported about 4:40 p.m. A crew has been working on the lines and should be finished soon, according to Milford Police.

The outage is affecting customers on Whitewood Road, Congress Street, Silverhill Road and connecting streets, including the Groves Apartment complex.
