Grafton & Upton Railroad Files Suit, Millbury Slots Parlor wins Business Support
Here are five things to help inform your day.

1. The Grafton & Upton Railroad is engaged in a legal battle over its plans to transfer propane at a facility in North Grafton. How does this affect Milford? It doesn't directly. A spokesman for the rail line said Tuesday the propane will not be brought in through Milford tracks, once they are restored. Trucks that receive the propane, however, could run through Milford if the facility is approved.
2. Milford's Area Chamber of Commerce has not yet taken a position on the Milford casino. To the west, the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce on Monday threw its support behind a slot parlor proposed for Millbury.
3. Donations of backpacks and school supplies are being collected at the Salvation Army in Milford. And families in Milford, Hopedale and Mendon who have low incomes, and children in kindergarten through grade seven, are encouraged to apply for a program that will distribute the supplies in August. Hours for sign ups are 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday.
4. The informational meeting on social and economic impacts of the Milford casino is now on the YouTube channel of Milford TV, for those who missed it.
5. Sen. Richard T. Moore (D-Uxbridge) announced Tuesday that Citizens Bank is launching its annual Gear for Grades program, which helps local children go back to school with the supplies they need to succeed. Customers and the public are welcome to support the initiative by donating new items like pencils, folders, notebooks, rulers and other supplies at any Citizens Bank branch in Massachusetts.
