Milford Brazilian BBQ Spot Gets OK To Serve Alcohol
The owners of Emporium Brazil have been seeking an alcohol license after customer requests, the owners said.
MILFORD, MA — The owners of a newer Brazilian restaurant in downtown Milford can now satisfy a longstanding customer request: beer and wine to go with the barbecue.
The Select Board on Monday granted the owners of Emporium Brazil an all-alcohol license, which will let them begin serving beer, wine and more at their 21 Main St. restaurant.
Owners Alexandre Coelho and Jehany Mendonca — who also operate a second Emporium Brazil location in Marlborough — initially went to the Select Board on Feb. 28 for an all-alcohol license. During that meeting, the board granted all-alcohol licenses to the Greater Milford Social Club, Casa Brazil and Isabel's and asked Coelho and Mendonca to return at a later date to apply for a beer and wine license.

But in the meantime, Town Manager Richard Villani discovered Milford had another unclaimed all-alcohol license to give out.
Coelho and Mendonca said that their customers have been requesting beer and wine since the restaurant opened over the summer.

Mariachi In Milford
The Select Board also on Monday approved an entertainment license for Sol de Mexico. The 350 East Main St. taco spot asked for permission to host mariachi bands and DJs.
The mariachi band will be at the restaurant about twice per month between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m., according to the application. DJs will perform on Friday and Saturdays only between about 10 p.m. and 1 a.m.
