A year-long alumni celebration for former Catholic school students in Milford is planned to kick off later this month, according to an announcement Wednesday by the Milford Catholic Alumni Committee.
The event will begin with a mass at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 28 at St. Mary of the Assumption church in Milford. All are welcome to attend the mass, which will be followed by a tour of the original St. Mary’s Elementary School building.

The event will also feature a presentation on the preservation of the building by Consigli Construction Co. Inc., which disassembled the building in 2005 and reconstructed it at 72 Sumner St., where it became the company’s headquarters.
The granite building was originally built in 1897 and was once considered one of 10 most endangered buildings by Preservation Massachusetts, according to Alumni Committee co-chairs Cheryl Fex DeAngelo and Annette Smith.
