In 2010, Russell moved to Massachusetts to work as the store manager of Wegmans in Northborough, which was the first store of the grocery chain to open in New England. Russell will begin his new role in full when the Burlington store opens on Sunday, Oct. 26.

And as part of the opening, said he expects the Burlington store to make a “big impression” on new customers.

“People will see it from the parking lot and think, ‘This thing is huge,’” he said in a statement. “Inside, they’ll see a buzz of activity, like open-air European markets, where you can pick up a great cappuccino at the coffee bar, get artisan breads warm from the oven in the bakery, or buy items in the meat shop hard to find anywhere else such as grass-fed beef. The produce department is beautiful -- loaded with fruits and vegetables picked at the peak of perfection, in all the colors of the rainbow.”

The new store in Burlington will welcome 600 new employees to the Wegman’s company.
